Photographer Brendan Bannon has spent the last 5 years working from his base in Nairobi, Kenya covering life in Africa for the Daily Telegraph, The United Nations and international charity groups like Doctors without Borders and Care International. His images have appeared in Time Magazine, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Daily Telegraph, the Independent and the Guardian, among others. He has taught photography and writing to children in Romania, Uganda, Yemen and Namibia and has taught workshops in photography to aid workers and journalists in Somalia and Kenya.

Brendan Bannon will spend 3 days in Bakersfield, presenting to classes and to the public. He will show and discuss his work in Africa, and will also complete a photographic essay on Bakersfield which will be presented to the public as part of his lecture at the Norman Levan Center for the Humanities on Wednesday, October 6th at 7pm.
